The Tsuki no Shô is manual of philosophical and strategic concepts applicable to the way of the Japanese sword.
Written by Yagyu Jubei Mitsuyoshi in 1642, it is composed of his views on swordplay, and the mindset of the individual swordsman.
Excerpt:
"Maintaining total mindfulness regardless of circumstances. The be completely without negligence.
Whether you defeat your opponent, miss your targe, or are preparing yourself; whether you retreat or attack... always stay mindful and suffer yourself no negligence in keeping your eyes fixed.
This is of the first importance."
